Mar. 12, 2010 -- Although they are not professional singers, the members sang their hearts out in the song "We". For the first time in the 60 year history of the CPPCC, a theme tune has been selected.

Although they are not professional singers, the members sang their hearts out in the song "We". For the first time in the 60 year history of the CPPCC, a theme tune has been selected.

The recording of the theme song "We" has taken half a year. For these part-time singers, the challenge has been an unforgettable experience.

Zhu Jun, TV host and CPPCC member, said, "I spent more than an hour recording the song. The more you sing, the more you become addicted to it. As an amateur, it's a tough job to sing well, but the melody is there to follow, so you have to try."

Feng Xiaogang, film director and CPPCC member, said, "I'm really not good at singing, but it's a team effort. As a CPPCC member, it's my duty whether I can sing well or not. I also found that the recording helped us build our confidence, though at first everyone was a little shy."

CPPCC member Zhang Heping wrote the lyrics for "We" which describe the duty of CPPCC members and the CPPCC's spirit they've been following for decades.

Zhang Heping, CPPCC member, said,"It's a way of showing respect to others as we sing "We are here because of you". We are proud of doing our duty. The honor comes from the bottom of our hearts as CPPCC members."

Zhu Jun said, "We shall carry out our duty and responsibility. We are also brothers and sisters in the big family of China. We are the family members. For me, such simple lyrics make me feel warm."

Feng Xiaogang said, "I think the CPPCC should have its own song which shows the strength we have together. The theme song plays such a role. We're proud when we sing it."

Lyricist Zhang Heping and young composer Shu Nan represented the cast and crew to donate CDs to the CPPCC.
