Brief Introduction:
Ningxia, on the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River in western China, enjoys the reputation of “Iush southern—type fields beyond the Great Wall”. Through assimilation of the culture of the Central Plains area and the Western Regions and development of the resultant local culture, Ningxia has produced many musical instruments and much music. The album includes melodies created by local musicians based on folk songs about the harshness of the desert and on the scenic water regions of southern China. They reflect the longings of the Hui people of Ningxia and their aesthetic concept.
