June. 3, 2010 -- The reportage collection The Great Yushu Rescue and poetry anthology Flowers on the Relics were published recently, to remember the dead of the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck Yushu region in Qinghai province on April 14.
Both books are also dedicated to the rescue efforts and relief work undertaken by the government, the army and the people.
Mei Zhuo, chairperson of the Qinghai Writers' Association, said the 37-piece reportage collection, which consists of field interviews by a team of writers, organized by China Writers' Association and Qinghai Writers' Association for the earthquake coverage in Yushu.
"We set off from Xining on April 17, three days after the earthquake struck. It took us 17 hours to finally arrive at the epicenter, Gyegu town in Yushu, 800 km from Xining."
According to Jidi Majia, Qinghai provincial publicity department director, the poetry anthology, comprising 101 poems, is an elegy to the disaster, a requiem for the dead, and an ode to life. |
