June 10, 2010 -- A series of books about ancient Chinese architecture has been published by China Resources Snow Breweries Co, Ltd and the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University. It includes five books, Folk Houses in North China, Folk Houses in Zhejiang Province, Folk Houses in Fujian Province, Folk Houses in Jiangxi and Guangdong Provinces and Folk Houses in Southwest China.
As the most comprehensive non-academic books about folk houses since the founding of New China in 1949, this set of books aims to make the knowledge and culture of ancient architecture available to a wider readership. The essays and the accompanying pictures are of a uniformly high standard.
The Ancient Chinese Architecture Program, created and funded by China Resources Snow Breweries Co, Ltd, hopes to publish a variety of books written by experts for the general public. It published five books about architecture in Beijing last year, including The Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven. |
