National Regional Autonomy

The Tibet Autonomous Region is one of five provincial-level autonomous regions in China. There are also the Moinba, Lhoba and Naxi ethnic townships. In areas where people of the ethnic minorities live concentratedly, autonomous organs have been set up for the locals to handle their own affairs. This constitutes a basic political system of China.

Since its founding in 1965, Tibet has been following the system of national regional autonomy. Under the leadership of the Central Government, the Tibetan people handle the State and Tibetan affairs in their own capacity of masters of their own fate. They enjoy rights listed in the PRC Constitutions and laws. They plunge themselves into modernization drive and work for a beautiful tomorrow. This system conforms to the actual situation of China, Tibet included.
