Preface
Exlibris originated from Germany. It has maintained a long history of five hundred years, where it has been used as bookmarks. Similar like the Chinese Book- Collecting Seal, it increases the value in the books as well as the collector itself. Because of its detailed work and immaculate craftsmanship it has often been dubbed the names such as “Diamond on paper” or “Pearl in the print”. In the 1930s the art of Exlibris first introduced to China, in recent 20 years it has become widespread and China has been a member of the Exlibris Association (FISAE). The FISAE Exlibris congress is held once every two years, China has requested a bid to host the 32nd FISAE congress at the 30th FISAE meeting and successfully won the hosting rights, it was held on October 2008 in Beijing World Art Museum.
The 32nd FISAE congress included artworks from 42 different countries by different artists. Through careful judging, 831 artists enters into final round, top three prices will receive either Gold, Silver or Bronze, and 49 other artists will receive nomination price as well. The top three winners of the 32nd FISAE Exlibris congress will be invited by the Exlibris Seminar of China Artists Association, the Sichuan Artists Association, Sichuan Art Museum, and Dong Xiaozhuang International Ex-Libris Art Collection to Display their artworks at the Sichuan Art Museum on October 15th 2009. There are other participating artists from 17 counties: Bulgaria, Belgium, Russia, Belarus, Czech Republic, Latvia, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Greece, Mexico, Slovakia, Serbia, India, Israel, Germany and China. All of the above are world renowned artists, among them is the Chairman of the Design department in Hogeschool Gent, Royal Academy of Fine Arts; and many Exlibris Chair committees; Gallery Director of the National Exlibris Gallery, all of whom are respectable individuals in the art society, winning many awards. These talented artists are among those who have had their art works displayed in the International Exlibris Invitation Exhibition of XXXII FISAE Award-Winning Artists Art Catalogue.
There are no words to describe the visual art masterpieces being displayed at Sichuan Art Museum, it’s there for more artists and art enthusiasts to have the opportunity see and appreciate the best of the best in the world, therefore bringing the Art in Sichuan to a higher level.
To enrich the event, we also invited the President of the Exlibris Seminar of China Artists Association -Mr. SHEN Yanxiang, Vice President: Mr. ZHANG Jiarui, Vice President: MS. CHEN Yadan, Vice President: Mr. LIU Shuohai to along with other well known International Exlibris friends to Participate.
