The year 2007 witnessed new headway by Tibet in the electric power industry. The generated energy of the region reached 1.517 billion kWh, up 14.7 percent. A number of key electric power projects proceeded smoothly. The newly-added installed capacity of electric power stood at 50,000 kW.

The theoretical storage quantity of waterpower in Tibet reaches over 200 million kW, ranking first in China.
