Brief Introduction: The Sagya Monastery is in the Sagya County of Tibet's Xigaze Region. Kun Gongjor Gyibo, the founder of the Sagya Sect, built this monastery in 1073. There are abundant antiques in the Sagya Monastery, such as Buddha statues, murals, walls lined with classical books, Buddhist scriptures written on pattra leaves, and porcelain from the Yuan Dynasty. Since it holds so many treasures, the Sagya Monastery is also called "The Second Dunhuang of China." The Sagya Sect established during the Sagya Dynasty, forged a tradition of combining religion and politics. This program introduces the monastery and the lives of lamas who reside there. It truly shows the history, architecture, murals, and real lives inside the monastery. Authentic Buddhist scriptures and ritual ceremonies-including a ceremony to welcome the return of the Sagya Buddha after 35 years-are highlights of this program.
